Best Stain Removers for Clothes in Pakistan

Written by the Alkemico cleaning team in Korangi · Last updated September 2026

Grease from cooking, mehndi after a wedding, chai spills, sweat marks in the heat — Karachi laundry deals with a wider mix of stains than most places, and one product rarely handles all of them.

We don't sell a dedicated stain remover yet, so this is the honest, stain-by-stain method that actually works.

What Actually Counts as a Stain Remover?

A stain remover is a targeted, pretreat-style product — applied directly to a specific mark before the regular wash, not mixed into the wash water like a detergent. That's different from a colour safe bleach, which lifts general staining and dullness across a whole load rather than one spot.

It's also why one product rarely covers everything: an oil-based grease stain and a tannin-based chai stain respond to different treatments, which is the biggest reason a single "stain remover" bottle disappoints people on at least one kind of mark.

How to Remove Common Clothing Stains

The general method below works alongside the stain-specific tips further down.

  1. Treat it before it goes in the wash A regular wash cycle sets a stain rather than lifting it if you skip pretreating first. Deal with a stain the same day if you can — the longer it sits, especially in Karachi's heat, the more it bonds to the fabric.
  2. Work out what kind of stain it is Oil-based stains (cooking grease, ghee, makeup) and protein or tannin-based stains (chai, mehndi, sweat, blood) respond to different approaches. Treating an oil stain like a tea stain, or the reverse, is why a lot of home attempts don't fully work.
  3. Apply the treatment directly to the stain Work a small amount of detergent, diluted Bleachit, or a targeted approach for that stain type (see below) directly into the fabric, not just into the wash water. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing rather than rinsing it off immediately.
  4. Wash in the right water temperature Cool or lukewarm water for protein-based stains like blood or sweat — hot water can cook the stain in. Warmer water is fine for oil and grease stains, since heat helps break those down.
  5. Check before you dry, never after Inspect the fabric in daylight before it goes anywhere near a dryer or the sun for line-drying. Heat sets a stain permanently, so if it's still visible, repeat the treatment rather than drying and hoping.

Common Karachi Stains and What Actually Works

The six stains we hear about most, each with the one thing that matters most for that mark.

Grease & Cooking Oil

The most common one in Karachi kitchens. Work a little dish soap or detergent directly into the stain before washing — it breaks down oil better than water alone.

Mehndi & Henna

Common after weddings and Eid. Scrape off any dried paste first, then soak in cool water before washing — hot water can set the orange stain rather than lift it.

Chai & Tea Stains

A tannin stain, not an oil one. Rinse with cool water immediately, then treat with a small amount of diluted Bleachit if it's on a coloured fabric.

Ink & Pen Marks

Blot, don't rub — rubbing spreads it further into the fibres. Dab with a cloth from the back of the fabric so the ink pushes out rather than deeper in.

Sweat & Deodorant Marks

The yellowing under collars and underarms common in Karachi's heat is a build-up, not a one-time stain. A soak in diluted Bleachit before the regular wash helps more than the wash cycle alone.

Mud & Dust

Let it dry completely first, then brush off as much as you can before washing. Washing mud in while it's still wet just spreads it through the whole load.

Do We Sell a Stain Remover? Not Yet.

We formulate 8 cleaning products ourselves in Korangi, and a dedicated pretreat stain remover isn't one of them yet. Bleachit is the closest thing we make — it lifts general staining and dullness on coloured clothes, but it's a colour safe bleach, not a targeted spray for a fresh grease or ink mark.

  • "Stain remover" is one of the fastest-growing cleaning searches we track — enough that it's genuinely on our radar.
  • If you'd want an Alkemico stain remover built for grease, mehndi or ink specifically, tell us on WhatsApp.
  • We'd rather say this honestly than list a product we don't actually make yet.

Stain Removal Questions

There isn't one product that lifts every kind of stain equally well — grease, tea, mehndi and ink all respond to different treatments, which is covered above. For general staining on coloured clothes, a colour safe bleach like our own Bleachit added alongside your regular detergent handles a lot of everyday cases, though it's not a dedicated pretreat spray for oil or ink specifically.

Work a small amount of dish soap or your regular liquid detergent directly into the stain before washing, rather than relying on the wash cycle alone. Warm water helps break down oil better than cold. This is one of the most common stains in Karachi households given how much cooking involves oil and ghee — our own Bubblezz is formulated to cut through it.

Scrape off any dried paste first without rubbing it in further, then soak the fabric in cool water before washing — hot water tends to set the orange-brown stain rather than lift it. Treat it as soon as possible after the event rather than waiting until the next laundry day.

Yes, for general staining and dull whites — add it alongside your regular detergent in the wash, or soak the garment in diluted Bleachit for a few minutes first if the stain has set in. It's a colour safe bleach rather than a dedicated pretreat spray, so it works better on general staining than on a specific fresh oil or ink mark.

Because it's usually a build-up under the fabric fibres, not a single surface stain — a regular wash cycle only removes what's on top. Soaking the area in diluted Bleachit before the main wash, rather than just washing it as normal, deals with the layer underneath.

Not yet — "stain remover" is one of the fastest-growing cleaning searches we track, so it's genuinely something we're considering. In the meantime, Bleachit covers general staining on coloured clothes.
